There are indeed certain foods that speed metabolism up helping us lose weight fast and easy.

Traditionally it is believed that food is what makes us overweight. And while partially it is true, not all food transforms into fat.

Following is the list of foods that speed metabolism up making you lose weight faster.

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has lots of useful minerals (particularly potassium that is vital for nervous system functioning) and organic acids that speed metabolism up. It suppresses appetite, speeds up metabolic processes and encourages lipid and carbohydrates to decompose. It also decreases our desire for sweets.

Our body produces all of these organic acids on its own so apple cider vinegar doesn’t have many side effects.

Make sure you ask your doctor before taking it though. Do not take it if you have any gastroenterological conditions.

It is pretty simple to lose weight with the help of apple cider vinegar. All you need to do is to dissolve one table spoon of apple cider vinegar and half a teaspoon of honey in a glass of water and drink it before every meal.

French scientists believe that if you replace as little as 6 grams of daily fat intake with Omega-3 fatty acid you will lose at least 2 pounds in 12 weeks without changing anything else in your diet and lifestyle.


It is a proven fact that our body employs almost twice as much energy to digest proteins than carbohydrates or fats. So if you are eager to speed metabolism up you may substitute about 20% of carbohydrates to protein. It will increase your calorie burning capability by 5%.

Vitamin B6 and other vitamins

Although vitamins speed metabolism up, you should be careful with them. If you eat healthy already there is no need for you to take extra complex vitamins. They may instead make you gain weight.

Folic Acid

Whole wheat bread and pastas, lentils, beans, okra, sunflower seeds, asparagus, carrots – are just a few foods that are rich in folic acid. All of these foods speed metabolism up cleansing your body and improving your immune system.

Coffee and Green Tea

Black coffee and green tea can help you burn calories almost 10% faster. Make sure you drink it without sugar if you really want to lose weight. Black coffee taste is so rich and flavorful; it tastes so much better than with sugar.


Capsaicin is an active component of chili peppers; it’s what makes them hot. It speeds up your heart rate and increases basal temperature.

Scientists proved that hot food boosts metabolism by 25%. And the effect of it lasts for up to 3 hours after you are done with your meal.

So if you have even very light hot snacks every day you may burn additional 300 per day. It is especially useful to snack on hot chili peppers (or foods that contain them) after 3 pm – time of the day when all internal processes slow down.

Calcium, carbohydrates and fiber

If you increase you calcium intake to 1200-1300 mg a day you will be losing weight twice as fast.

Carbohydrates in combination with fiber are digested relatively slowly. Because of that they maintain optimal insulin level in blood for many hours, helping you to speed metabolism up. Otherwise your insulin jumps up and down and it sends the warning signal to your body to store additional fat just in case.

Also try Chia Seeds. They are a powerhouse of nutrition and fiber! The chia plant (salvia hispanica) is a member of the mint family and is grown organically. They are extremely helpful in weight loss.
